From 'loss' to 'found'
Every time a deaf child is told they have a ‘hearing loss,’ they are being fed a narrative that implies they are incomplete.
That they need to be ‘fixed’ in order to belong.
Overwhelmed by negative language and lacking knowledge of BSL or Deaf culture, hearing families struggle to find support and community.
BSL is more than communication. It connects deaf people to their families. It’s unites a community and a culture that is rich with history, storytelling, humour and activism.
Yet, many deaf children and adults remain isolated, disconnected and underestimated.
By donating, you support a Deaf-led movement to create connection for those who feel lost. So that every deaf child can experience the joy of ‘hearing loss’ to finding their ‘Deaf gain’.
